What engineers are being paid in Scotland in 2026, role by role. Each figure is a range because pay for the same job title moves a long way with sector, shift pattern and specialist experience: a multi-skilled Maintenance Engineer in a food or bottling plant is paid very differently from one in general manufacturing. The ranges come from our analysis of live Scottish job adverts and our own vacancies, and they are the figures we work from when we advise employers on what a role needs to pay. The ranges are based on more than 180 live, salaried job adverts for permanent engineering roles in Scotland, published on job boards and recruiter sites between August and September 2026, together with our own current vacancies. Contract day rates, hourly rates, graduate and apprentice roles are left out. The low figure is where typical adverts start; the high figure is what experienced or specialist engineers are offered. Scotland's median full-time pay comes from the Scottish Government's Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings 2025. We update the guide as the market moves.
