The client
A manufacturer of specialist engineered products, supplying marine, defence and energy projects in the UK and overseas.
The brief
The client needed an Estimating Engineer to price enquiries from drawings and specifications, working closely with the design and production teams so that quotes reflected how products would actually be built. The work is technical and specification-heavy, so the client wanted an engineer comfortable reading drawings and working through material and fabrication costs in detail.
How we handled it
We took a full brief on the technical side of the role, the team the engineer would join and the package, and gave an honest view at the start of how long it was likely to take. We then worked our network of engineers across the Central Belt and the west of Scotland, including people who were not actively looking. Every candidate was interviewed by phone and on a Teams video call before the client saw a CV, and each CV came with a written summary of the engineer’s background, why they were looking and their salary expectations.
The outcome
The client appointed an Estimating Engineer from our shortlist, 6 weeks after the brief.
