The client
An established engineering business in the west of Scotland with its own fabrication and machining capability, delivering bespoke projects for industrial customers.
The brief
The business needed a Design Engineer to turn customer requirements into workable designs and production drawings for bespoke fabricated products and site projects. The role sat between the customer, the workshop and the site teams, so the client wanted someone who could produce accurate drawings and also talk to fabricators and fitters in their own language.
How we handled it
We took a full brief on the technical side of the role, the team the engineer would join and the package, and gave an honest view at the start of how long it was likely to take. We then worked our network of engineers across Glasgow and the Central Belt, including people who were not actively looking. Every candidate was interviewed by phone and on a Teams video call before the client saw a CV, and each CV came with a written summary of the engineer’s background, why they were looking and their salary expectations.
The outcome
The client made an offer from our shortlist and the Design Engineer was placed 4 weeks after the brief.
