The client
An established welding and fabrication business in the Central Belt, producing fabricated steelwork for industrial customers.
The brief
The client needed a Quality Manager to own quality across the workshop: inspection and test, fabrication and welding documentation, the quality management system, and customer and supplier audits. They wanted someone with a fabrication background who could hold the line on standards without slowing production down.
How we handled it
We took a full brief on the technical side of the role, the team the engineer would join and the package, and gave an honest view at the start of how long it was likely to take. We then worked our network of engineers across the Central Belt, including people who were not actively looking. Every candidate was interviewed by phone and on a Teams video call before the client saw a CV, and each CV came with a written summary of the engineer’s background, why they were looking and their salary expectations.
The outcome
The Quality Manager was placed 6 weeks after the brief.
